What nicknames are good for new boyfriends that aren't too sappy?

My new boyfriend calls me sweetheart which I like, but all the generic nicknames are too cutesy to call a guy (e.g. pookie), too old (e.g. honey, hun), or kinda condescending (e.g. baby). I guess I'm looking for a nickname that isn't too suggestive or girly until we have dated for long enough that we have more personal nicknames. Thanks!
