Boston vs Chicago, which is a better move?

My friend is moving and she knows that her choices are b/w Boston and Chicago. She currently lives in NY and is planning on movng w/ her fiance. They are young and urban people. Which of the 2 cities has cheaper rent (please give me numerical ranges) and which has less violence and better job opportunity. Thanks so much, this would really help her =]
