I'm going swimming on Monday?

Okay. So last night I got my first ever, well you know what, and I'm supposed to go swimming on Monday with my friend and I was wondering if I'm supposed to be doing that. I know you can't swim with it, but I asked my stepmom and she said that it would be over by then. It that true, and if not, what can I do so that I can still swim?
